Jessica Kagan Cushman
I've never been one to really buy accessories, specifically jewelry. Honestly, I'm too lazy to pay, say, $30 for a bracelet. But lately, being a little over a month shy of turning 21, I've been thinking about statement jewelry. There's a boutique I like at home in Charlotte called Poole Shop, and though it's the size of a shoebox, they stock some pretty great stuff, especially unique baubles. A current favorite of mine? Resin Reproduction Scrimshaw bracelets by Jessica Kagan Cushman. Her chunky, resin bangles all have witty slogans carved in, and though the price tag may mean a month of babysitting for some of you, it's an investment piece! (well. That's MY justification.)

Christ, I might need that "No Wire Hangers" one immediately. I think Joan Crawford herself would have been proud. Maybe not, actually, since she supposedly regretted being in the movie once it became such a weird cult hit. Still, I think it would round out my jewelry collection nicely. Sorry, Joan.

See, I saw the "no wire coat hangers" and I was thinking it was a political statement supporting a woman's right to make a SAFE, LEGAL choice about her body.
